December – Tiffany Wigington

How long have you participated in the sport? How did you get started?
I have been running since 4th grade. I fell in love with running during the track and field section of PE. I have been running off and on since then. However not until after having my second child did I become more interested in running longer distances. I began training for my first 1/2 marathon about 4 years ago. Since then I have completed 5 half marathons, and one full.

What is your favorite race?
Right now my favorite race is the 1/2 marathon. It is long enough to enjoy the race and see the attractions, and I can recover quickly and can still make a soccer game or family event. My goal is to feel this way after a full.

Favorite Long Run/Race Nutrition?
Well I only started using race “nutrition” about a year ago when training for Cowtown, when I was introduced to GU. I am not sure it is my favorite, but it is the only thing I have tried. I also love NUUN for hydration.

Favorite Post-Race Food
When training for my first Full I was very tough on myself, however after long runs I allowed treats. By far my favorite post-race full is anything Blue Bell…

Favorite Piece of Training Equipment/Gear?
When I can figure out how to use it, my Garmin. But it also might be my four legged partner, Chocolate Chip!

Advice for other athletes?
Running is as unique as each person, don’t compare yourself with other runners, make it your own! A run is a run!
